It’s All About The Money December 3, 2009

Filed under: Uncategorized — lovelycourtb @ 4:43 am

As we are getting closer to Christmas, it is always this time of year that “money” becomes a big topic of conversation in our household. More often than not, it is the lack there of that is discussed. Probably like most families in the country, we live from paycheck to paycheck and try to pigeon hole money away for Christmas so that we can give nice gifts to the ones we love. ( Not out of Obligation, mind you. ) This year, we are tighter than normal and probably won’t be able to buy gifts for those outside of the three of us, Luke and I more than like won’t even buy gifts for each other just Rem. This doesn’t necessarily bother me, I am beginning to feel that there is too much pressure put on Christmas for people to go out and buy outrageous gifts instead of just appreciating spending time together as a family. I have a feeling that I am going to really enjoy this year because I won’t have all the holiday stress thrust my way and I can sit back and relax and enjoy my family. Maybe we will even start a new tradition! What are some of the traditions you hold dear? I would love some ideas!

Court…my favorite family tradition has always been getting together on Christmas Eve and going out to look at Christmas lights together. Afterwards, we all get together and have a big snack fest. We usually stay and eat and share until around midnight. It’s always been my favorite part of Christmas. It’s the togetherness that I’ve always cherished. The feelings…the sharing…the hugs and sentiment. I could give a hoot for all the $$ stuff or the commercialization of Christmas. It’s all about remembering what we’re really celebrating. Our Savior…our gift from heaven. And I’m so glad to pass that tradition on to the next generation in our family. Our Aidan. :)

Cutting our trees together…oyster stew on Christmas eve…just the special times we spend together as a family means more to me than any any any gift under the tree!!!!
